  • Gregg S. Coury
    Chief Executive Officer

    Gregg is Chief Executive Officer of The Coury Firm and a member of the Board of Directors. As CEO, he is responsible for leading the firm’s business strategy and overseeing all facets of the firm’s offerings. Gregg was instrumental in creating and refining the firm’s integrated service model and Multi-Family Office platform.


    For over 20 years, Gregg has advised prominent families and businesses through a myriad of challenges including mergers and acquisitions, wealth transfers, business exit strategies, succession planning and governance, and other family office and corporate matters.


    Having joined the firm in 1996, Gregg has served in a number of roles and capacities, most recently as President and Chief Compliance Officer.


    In addition to his role at The Coury Firm, Gregg serves as a member of the Board of Directors and on the Investment Committee for ÉO Management, a family and private investment office of the Coury Family. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for The Robert J. Coury Family Foundation.


    Gregg earned his B.A. in Business Finance and Economics from Duquesne University and currently resides in Upper St. Clair of Pittsburgh with his wife and 5 children.

  • Jeff Coury
    Executive Chairman

    Jeff Coury serves as Executive Chairman of The Coury Firm. Jeff brings a unique skillset to the team through his leadership qualities and business acumen. Joining the firm in 1995, Jeff has been able to perform successful engagements through the firm’s Business Advisory division across numerous industries. He is a distinguished client advocate and management executive with unique, problem-resolution capabilities and is well-respected for his leadership.


    Jeff is currently the Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer at Mortgage Connect, LP. Mortgage Connect is one of the nation’s largest, independent mortgage service providers serving the Origination, Default, Capital Markets, Technology, and Document Solutions markets through offices in Pittsburgh, New York, Dallas, Denver and Irvine California. Under Jeff’s leadership, Mortgage Connect has grown to become one of the industry’s most respected mortgage service providers in the country, strategically partnered with the top lenders and servicers in the nation.


    Prior to joining and recapitalizing Mortgage Connect in 2012, he began his tenure in the mortgage services industry as an advisor to ServiceLink in 1997. Through Coury Firm’s Business Advisory practice, Jeff was named ServiceLink’s Chief Executive Officer in 2002. He grew Servicelink to a national, multi-platform organization more than tripling revenue and headcount. In 2005, Jeff spearheaded ServiceLink’s sale to Fidelity National Financial, where he remained as the company’s chief executive until 2011. During this time span, he quadrupled the company’s revenue through acquisition and organic growth.


    Jeff is a member of the Board of Directors and Investment Committee for ÉO Management, a family and private investment office of the Coury Family. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for The Robert J. Coury Family Foundation.


    Jeff earned his B.S. in Business Administration with a major in Finance and Economics from Duquesne University and currently resides in Pittsburgh, PA with his wife and 7 children.

  • Robertino Coury
    President, Chief Investment Officer
    Alternative Investments

    Robertino is the President of The Coury Firm and a member of the Board of Directors. He is responsible for leading and executing on the strategic and operational initiatives of the company. In parallel to his role as President, Robertino is the Chief Investment Officer of the Alternative Investments division at the firm that focuses on developing and implementing quantitative investment strategies in a hedge fund format.


    Prior to joining Coury, Robertino co-founded Eleventh Records, an independent music label, where as a producer and songwriter he launched a single in 2010 that charted on the U.S. Mainstream Top 40 and #11 on the Billboard U.S. Dance Charts.


    In addition to his role at Coury, Robertino serves as the President and Chair of the Investment Committee for ÉO Management, a family and private investment office of the Coury Family. He is also the Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors for The Robert J. Coury Family Foundation.


    Robertino currently resides in Los Angeles, CA, where he heads the firm’s West Coast Office.

  • Paul Coury
    Principal, Senior Wealth Director
    Private Wealth

    Paul is a Principal and Senior Wealth Director of The Coury Firm. Paul brings over 30 years of experience working with affluent individuals and families to help manage the complexities that arise while growing and preserving their wealth. Paul utilizes his seasoned business background to provide corporate and business advisory services to closely held businesses. He also works closely with the firms Wellness & Risk Management team to deliver comprehensive employer benefit solutions to both private and public companies. Paul currently serves as the Co-Chair of the firm’s Private Wealth Investment Committee.


    Paul earned his B.A. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Pittsburgh native, married and has four sons. He and his family currently reside in Sewickley, Pennsylvania.

  • Robert Buzzelli
    President of Private Wealth, Managing Director, Corporate Development & Strategy

    In his dual role as both President of Private Wealth and Managing Director of Corporate Development & Strategy, Bob Buzzelli leads the firm’s private wealth and multi-family office client relationships and executes on the firm’s continued growth and expansion across all business segments. Bob works directly with families, family offices, corporations, endowments and foundations to provide a wide array of solutions – spanning from investment management and family governance, to trust, estate plan and business advisory services.


    Bob joined The Coury Firm in 2017 as a veteran wealth management executive from BNY Mellon, where he was a Senior Wealth Director. He has previously held executive positions in the banking and financial services industry, including serving as EVP, Chief Banking & Wealth Management Officer for Allegheny Valley Bank, Executive Managing Director of Fifth Third Bank’s Private Client Group, Regional Sales Director of the Northeast Region at LPL Financial Services and Senior Wealth Advisor in PNC Advisors’ Private Client Group. Earlier in his career Bob worked at USX Corporation in the Steel Division as a Sales Manager and Treasurer and at Mellon Bank as an Institutional Securities Trader in the Capital Markets Department.

     

    As an active member of the community, Bob has served on the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and is a former Board Chair, now committee member of Leadership Pittsburgh. He is currently on the advisory board for the Heinz History Center, Italian American Program, The Pittsburgh Italian Scholarship Foundation Board Trustee, and Pittsburgh Central Catholic Advancement Committee. He received his Master’s Degree in Finance and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University and his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh.

     

    Bob is a Pittsburgh native who enjoys amateur wine making and importing and resides with his family in Treesdale, Gibsonia Pennsylvania.

  • George V. Philippopoulos
    Director of Compliance

    George V. Philippopoulos is the Director of Compliance for The Coury Firm. Mr. Philippopoulos leads a variety of compliance, legal and regulatory matters.


    Prior to joining The Coury Firm, Mr. Philippopoulos was a Director at HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. in New York City, and before that he was the Americas Head of Global Banking and Markets Regulatory Compliance Business Integration for HSBC in New York City. Prior to that, he served as a Senior Consultant with Ernst & Young LLP’s financial services advisory practice in New York City. Mr. Philippopoulos began his career in the Office of the General Counsel at Brenntag North America, Inc.


    Mr. Philippopoulos received a B.S. in Economics from West Virginia University, a J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law and an M.B.A. from Duquesne University Graduate School of Business. He is admitted to the New York and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. Mr. Philippopoulos is fluent in Greek.

  • Elizabeth Appanaitis
    Director of Investment Operations
    Private Wealth

    Elizabeth leads investment operations for the firms Private Wealth division.  She is responsible for leading the execution on the day-to-day investment operational activities of the firm as it relates to client onboarding, client service, and data integrity.


    Bringing over 15 years of management experience in the financial industry, Elizabeth recently joined The Coury Firm as an operational leader from BNY Mellon where she spent 11 years in the Private Banking and Wealth Management divisions in several roles that included Project Management, Team Management, and oversight in Risk and Control.  Prior to that Elizabeth was a Branch Manager for Commerce Bank in the Philadelphia area where her focus was on Operations and Business Development.


    Elizabeth is currently pursuing her B.S. Degree in Organizational Leadership at Point Park University and loves to spend her free time traveling and supporting comedic arts in Pittsburgh. Elizabeth serves on the board of Comedy Arts Pittsburgh. 

  • Jonathan Dane, CFA
    Director of Portfolio Strategy & Research
    Private Wealth

    Jonathan focuses on developing the Private Wealth division’s global market outlook, asset allocation models, and manager due-diligence research. Joining the firm in 2016, Jonathan also serves as a member of the Private Wealth Investment Committee providing insight on capital deployment.


    Jonathan has over a decade of experience in the financial industry, including experience as an investment analyst on both the buy-side and sell-side.


    Jonathan previously worked at Goldman Sachs in New York City as a sell-side analyst covering asset managers, trust banks, and exchanges. Prior to that he worked at Jefferies in New York City as a sell-side analyst covering banks. Jonathan began his career at PNC Bank in the Asset Management Division.


    He holds a BS in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh, and is a CFA Charterholder.


    In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys mountain biking and skiing, and is also actively involved in mentoring college undergraduates.

  • Beth Boyce J.D. LL.M
    Senior Wealth Strategist
    Private Wealth

    Beth Boyce works with the firm’s Multi-Family Office and Private Wealth clients to develop strategies for lifetime and testamentary wealth transfer goals. Her focus is identifying and implementing effective solutions for comprehensive estate and business succession plans. She works with clients and their outside advisors to structure succession plans that carry out all aspects of a client’s wishes -- from family governance and charitable giving, to business entity and trust structuring – with a goal of minimizing wealth transfer taxes and preserving a family’s assets.


    Prior to joining the Coury Firm in 2010, Beth was a practicing attorney with 15 years of experience primarily in the fields of estate, trust and tax planning at large Pittsburgh law firms. She also gained corporate counsel experience both in house and at a regional law firm.


    Beth earned an LL.M in Taxation at the University of Denver College of Law She obtained her J.D. with high honors from Florida State University College of Law and was elected to the Order of the Coif. While in law school, she also served on the Florida State Law Review and studied at Oxford University in England.  Beth earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, magna cum laude, and a Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude, at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.


    Outside of her work at the Coury Firm, Beth enjoys traveling with her husband and competing as an amateur equestrian in show jumping competitions. She also serves as a board member of the Shaler North Hills Library.

  • Daniel Novakowski, M.S.T.
    Senior Wealth Strategist, Chief Compliance Officer
    Private Wealth

    Daniel is a valued member of the Multi-Family Office and Private Wealth client group, where he develops and implements comprehensive wealth planning strategies for clients both domestically and international. His focus centers around integrating corporate structure, governance, estate planning, and tax efficiencies specific to each client’s needs. Daniel connects closely with the firm’s clients and outside advisers to ensure all aspects of the client’s wishes are fulfilled.


    Having joined the firm in 1993, he has served in many roles and capacities over his 25 years supporting business and corporate advisory clients, private wealth and multi-family offices, and business operations.


    In addition to his role as a Senior Wealth Strategist, Daniel also serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer, where he is responsible for the firm’s regulatory matters and administering the company’s compliance program.


    Daniel earned both his Master’s degree in Taxation and his Bachelor’s degree in Finance at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh. Outside of his work at The Coury Firm, Daniel is an avid photographer and he and his wife love to travel the world, having visited over 25 countries in Europe and the Caribbean.

  • Craig Montanye
    Wealth Advisor
    Private Wealth

    Craig is a Wealth Advisor working with the firm’s Private Wealth and Corporate Retirement Plan Clients. Having joined The Coury Firm in 2014, Craig works closely with the firm’s Wealth Strategists and Wealth Planners to develop customized, comprehensive Wealth Planning strategies to support each client’s unique goals.


    Prior to joining the firm, Craig was a Senior Financial Analyst at The Ayco Company in Latham, New York, where he provided financial counseling to Fortune 500 executives and other high net worth individuals.  Prior to that, he was an Assistant Wealth Manager at a Wealth Management firm in Albany, New York.  He began his career as a Financial Advisor for AXA Advisors in Clifton Park, New York.


    Craig earned his BBA in Finance at St. Bonaventure University in St. Bonaventure, New York. He is a resident of downtown Pittsburgh, spending his free time playing guitar and enjoying sporting events and concerts.

  • Anthony Vargo MBA
    Senior Wealth Advisor
    Private Wealth

    Anthony Vargo is a Senior Wealth Advisor working with the firm’s Multi-Family Office, Private Wealth, and Corporate Retirement Plan Clients. During his 15 year tenure with Coury, Anthony’s role has evolved from investment operations and research to wealth advisement. Today, Anthony works closely with the firm’s clients to develop personalized, holistic wealth management strategies.


    As a 25-year veteran in the wealth management profession, his prior experience includes working at PNC Advisors as a Private Client Portfolio Manager, serving as Director of Investments at a local Wealth Advisory firm, and serving as a Senior Financial Analyst and an Investment Representative at Charles Schwab.


    Anthony earned his MBA at the University of Pittsburgh, Katz Graduate School of Business, and his BSBA in Economics at Ohio State University. He completed the Financial Analysis & Securities Trading Program at Carnegie Mellon University and earned Valuation Certification through Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Program. 


    Anthony lives north of Pittsburgh with his wife, Carmelina, and their four children.

  • Kimberly Lynch
    Senior Benefits Analyst
    Wellness & Risk Management

    Kimberly Lynch is a Senior Benefit Analyst in the firms Wellness & Risk Management division, focusing on evaluating benefit plans for corporate clients and building customized effective solutions for their employees. 


    Her valuable experience ranges from the design and development of benefit and incentive plans to the administration of healthcare and employee programs for both non-union and union workforce. In addition, Kimberly has designed and implemented wellness programs. Her expertise also assists our private clients and multi-family offices in understanding their coverage, evaluating compliance and finding solutions that meet their family’s needs.


    Kimberly joined Coury in 2017, following a 13-year career at Harbison Walker International, where she most recently held the position of Supervisor of Health & Welfare Benefits.


    Kimberly attended La Roche College in Pittsburgh. She is a mother of four and resides in the North Hills area.

  • Marissa Fisher
    Senior Benefits Analyst
    Wellness & Risk Management

    Marissa Fisher is a Senior Benefits Analyst in the firm’s Wellness & Risk Management division providing strategic advice, custom benefit plans and guidance around compliance and wellness. Marissa works closely with the firm’s large, mid and small employer group clients in both public and private sectors. Her experience ranges from designing holistic and comprehensive employee benefit strategies to custom employee wellness programs, all the while focusing on the culture of the client’s business.


    Marissa serves as an extension to our clients’ Human Resources departments to help maximize employee-engagement and minimize risk. She joined Coury in 2011, from Scott Medical Health Center in Pittsburgh, where she worked as an Administrator and Community Relations Assistant. 


    Marissa earned a B.A. in Communication at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. Marissa resides with her husband, William, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

  • Santino Coury
    Fund Operations
    Alternative Investments

    Santino is a member of the Alternative Investments team where he is responsible for Fund Operations. In this role, he works closely with the firm’s CIO, CCO, Portfolio Managers, and Analysts to assist in ensuring that policies, procedures, and governance practices are adhered to across all team members while focusing on mitigating potential operational risk.


    Prior to joining The Coury Firm, Santino worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as a Financial Solutions Adviser for their affluent customers, and in 2014 took an opportunity to join Ayco, a Goldman Sachs Company, as a Financial Analyst. In addition to his role at Coury, Santino serves as a Director of Operations and member of the Investment Committee for ÉO Management, a family and private investment office of the Coury Family. Santino received his B.S. in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh.


    Santino resides in Los Angeles, CA where he enjoys being active outdoors and traveling in his free time.

  • Jeff Coury II
    Co-Portfolio Manager
    Alternative Investments

    Jeff serves as Co-Portfolio Manager for the Alternative Investments division at The Coury Firm. He is responsible for the development, management, and execution of the division’s quantitative investment program and its underlying proprietary models. Jeff co-heads the research process and development of the firm’s systematic-based trading techniques and also oversees all aspects related to hedge fund operations, risk management, and portfolio construction. Jeff plays an integral role on the investment research, collaborating with the team to deliver innovative portfolio ideas through a combination of unique data analytics and thoughtful risk controls.


    In parallel to his role at Coury, Jeff also serves as a member of the Investment Committee for ÉO Management, a family and private investment office of the Coury Family. Jeff earned his B.S. in Finance and Business Administration from the University of Southern California and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.

  • Juliano Coury
    Co-Portfolio Manager
    Alternative Investments

    Juliano is a Co-Portfolio Manager for the Alternative Investments division of The Coury Firm. He is responsible for implementing and managing the division’s quantitative investment program. Juliano co-heads the research process, and development of the firm’s systematic-based trading techniques, and also oversees all aspects related to hedge fund strategy, risk management, and portfolio construction. In addition, he assists in overseeing various business and operational initiatives that support and streamline the investment processes.


    In addition to his role at Coury, Juliano serves as a member of the Investment Committee for ÉO Management, a family and private investment office of the Coury Family. Prior to joining Coury, Juliano received his M.S. and B.S. in Finance from USC’s Marshall School of Business and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.

  • Andreo Coury
    Portfolio Analyst
    Alternative Investments

    Andreo is a Portfolio Analyst for the Alternative Investments division of The Coury Firm. Andreo works closely with the Portfolio Managers to administer the day to day operational activities for its quantitative investment strategies. Andreo assists the team with pre and post trade compliance, account reconciliation between data vendors, and hedge fund accounting and reporting. He also supports the team’s thought leadership and publications surrounding behavioral finance and systematic investing.


    In addition to his role at Coury, Andreo works at ÉO Management, a family and private investment office of the Coury Family. Andreo received his B.S. in Finance and Business Administration from the University of Southern California.


    Andreo resides in Los Angeles, CA where he likes to spend time with family and friends, watch professional and collegiate sports, and travel.
